dc.description.abstract	En el presente proyecto de investigación se determina cuál de las formaciones perteneciente al Grupo Cogollo es la que aflora en la Sección el Cerro así como su respectivo ambiente deposicional. Para determinar lo anterior fue necesario describir y clasificar un total de 28 muestras de afloramiento de roca caliza, utilizando las clasificaciones de Folk 1974 y Dunham 1962, posteriormente y con las columnas estratigráficas de la zona de estudio se realizaron análisis tanto estratigráficos como de facies. A partir del análisis estratigráfico y paleontológico se pudieron determinar las características litológicas de las calizas aflorantes en la sección el Cerro, así como el contenido fosilífero de las mismas una vez realizado lo anterior se procedió a establecer cuál de las formaciones pertenecientes al Grupo Cogollo es la que aflora en la Sección el Cerro y a partir del análisis de facies; del cual se obtuvieron cinco asociaciones de facies se pudo determinar el ambiente deposicional de las calizas de la Sección el Cerro. Finalmente se concluye que las calizas aflorantes en la Sección el Cerro corresponden con la Formación Lagunitas del Grupo Cogollo y que estas muy probablemente se depositaron en una plataforma media de un mar abierto muy rico en carbonatos en la parte frontal de un reef.
dc.description.abstractenglish	In this research project is determined which of the formations belonging to Cogollo Group is exposed in the Cerro Section (study área) and their respective depositional environment. To determine this was necessary to lift the complete stratigraphic section of the study área (El Cerro), describe and classify a total of 28 samples of limestone outcrop, using Folk classifications 1974 and 1962 Dunham later and with the stratigraphic columns of the study área raised we made stratigraphic and facies analysis. From stratigraphic and paleontological analysis we could determine the lithology of the limestone outcrop in the Cerro section and the fossil content of the same, once above proceeded to establish which of the formations belonging to the Group is exposed in the Hill Section (study área) and from facies analysis conducted at six facies found, were obtained as a result five associations through facial and these could be determined depositional environment of the limestone of the Hill Section. Finally, as a result of this research project is concluded that the limestone outcropping in Section Cerro Lagunitas Formation correspond with Cogollo Group and that they most likely were deposited in middle shelf of an open sea very rich in carbonates in the front a reef
