| dc.description.abstract | Planeación de la Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) es el ente asesor de los órganos administrativo y directivo de la universidad, encargada de generar y suministrar información para el soporte de decisiones y el control de la gestión administrativa. El sistema de información de costos universitarios de la UIS (SICU), desarrollado con base en el modelo metodológico presentado por el Instituto Colombiano para el Fomento de la Educación Superior (ICFES) en 1985, es una herramienta informática que facilita el procesamiento de la información referente a la operación de una vigencia para la obtención de los costos de las diferentes unidades académicas, programas académicos y funciones de la universidad. Después de los avances realizados sobre la metodología del ICFES y el diseño del sistema de información computarizado que lo soporta, el proceso de costos se realizó de manera consecutiva para la vigencia 2002 y 2003; sin embargo, su aplicación fue suspendida en el 2004, se presume, como resultado de cambios acelerados al interior de la organización. Esto adicionado a la baja importancia que con frecuencia se da al soporte de sistemas, impidió mantener y prolongar la vida útil del SICU. El planteamiento del presente trabajo de grado, en la modalidad de práctica empresarial en Planeación de la UIS, surgió en respuesta a esta coyuntura de información con el propósito de recuperar el proceso de costos. Este trabajo de grado finalizó con el desarrollo del manual operativo del sistema de costos universitarios concebido como una herramienta para facilitar la sostenibilidad de la metodología de costos y la consulta y formación de usuarios. Durante el desarrollo del mismo la comunicación con los usuarios del sistema, el trabajo en equipo y la recolección de hechos que permitieran la comprensión y el análisis del SICU fueron fundamentales para el logro de los objetivos propuestos. | |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | Planning of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) is the advising unit of the university™s administrative and management bodies, in charge of gathering and supplying information to support decisions and to control the administrative effort. The university cost information system of the UIS (SICU), based on the methodological model presented by Instituto Colombiano para el Fomento de la Educación Superior (ICFES) in 1985, is a data processing tool that facilitates the processing of the information referring to the operation of a year in order to obtain the costs of the different academic units, academic programs, and functions of the university. After the advances made on the methodology of the ICFES and the design of the computerized information system that supports it, the cost process was consecutively carried out for the years 2002 and 2003. However, its application was suspended in 2004, presumably, as a consequence of the rapid changes to the interior of the organization. This added to the downward importance that frequently is given to the support activities of systems, impeded to maintain and to prolong the usefulness of the SICU. The approach of this degree work, in the modality of an intership in Planning of the UIS, arose with the purpose of recovering the cost process. This thesis developed the operating manual of the university cost system, which is considered a tool to facilitate the sustainability of the cost methodology, and the consultation and training of its users. The continuous communication with the users of the system, the teamwork, and the gathering of events that permit the comprehension and the analysis of the SICU were fundamental to achieve the objectives proposed in this intership. | |
