El conflicto armado interno en Colombia se ha caracterizado por su larga duración, y por las variadas formas en que se presenta la violencia en las regiones. Particularmente, el presente artículo tiene como propósito explicar, y analizar la incursión de las Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC) en el municipio de Tibú en el año 1999, cuyos hechos ponen en evidencia el favorecimiento del dispositivo paramilitar en el diseño normativo y en las prácticas de las fuerzas armadas del Estado, que fue determinante para la consolidación del paramilitarismo en la región del Catatumbo.
The internal armed conflict in Colombia has been characterized by its long duration, and by the different forms in which violence occurs in the regions. In particular, the present article aims to explain and analyze the incursion of the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC) in the municipality of Tibú in 1999, the facts of which show the favoring of the paramilitary device in the regulatory design and in the practices of the State armed forces, which was decisive for the consolidation of paramilitarism in the Catatumbo region.
