dc.description.abstract	En esta investigación se realizó una valoración económica del impacto ambiental por la contaminación hídrica del Río de Oro en la cabecera municipal de Girón, a través, del método de valoración contingente. Para ello se aplicaron encuestas a 605 hogares de la cabecera municipal de Girón en donde se les cuestionaba por su disposición a pagar por mejorar la calidad del agua del rio a un punto similar al de hace 40 años. Esto se realizó porque se evidencio en la información provista por la autoridad ambiental que la calidad del agua del río se encuentra en un estado inadecuado, lo cual ha afectado todos los beneficios que las personas recibían del río. Una vez realizado el proceso de valoración, se encontró que los habitantes de la cabecera municipal de Girón están perdiendo bienestar por un monto de $3.333.932.007 de pesos anuales debido a la contaminación del río. Esta cuantía a su vez fue desagregada para que sea tenida en cuenta por los diferentes proyectos que busquen conservar el rio. Se encontró que la mayor pérdida de bienestar corresponde a los valores de uso indirecto, de existencia y de herencia. *
dc.description.abstractenglish	In this research, an economic assessment of the environmental impact caused by the water pollution of the Río de Oro in the municipal capital of Girón was made, through the contingent valuation method. To this end, surveys were applied to 605 households in the municipal capital of Girón, where they were questioned for their willingness to pay to improve the quality of the river water to a point similar to that of 40 years ago. This was done because it was evidenced in the information provided by the environmental authority that the water quality of the river is in an inadequate state, which has affected all the benefits that people received from the river. Once the assessment process was carried out, it was found that the inhabitants of the municipal capital of Girón are losing welfare in the amount of $ 3,333,932,007 pesos annually due to the contamination of the river. This amount in turn was disaggregated to be taken into account by the different projects that seek to conserve the river. It was found that the greatest loss of welfare corresponds to the values of indirect use, existence and inheritance. *
