dc.description.abstract	Los sobrecostos y retrasos muchas veces se deben a las imprecisiones en la estimación de costos y a la falta de gestión para planificar y ejecutar proyectos por parte de la industria de la construcción. Para que la ejecución de un proyecto de construcción sea exitosa se deben gestionar adecuadamente los recursos que se utilizan, el material es el recurso primordial ya que puede representar hasta el 70% de los costos totales del proyecto. Por lo tanto, si se realiza una gestión y estimación de costos eficiente de los materiales se generarían ahorros sustanciales en el proyecto. La gestión de materiales permite tener el material en el momento oportuno, con un costo razonable y con la calidad requerida, pero aún no se comprende el fenómeno. Asociaciones profesionales como el Project Management Institute (PMI) ya se han preocupado por el tema y por medio de su libro Guía para los Fundamentos para la Dirección de Proyectos (Guía PMBOK) da pautas generales para la dirección de proyectos por medio de la aplicación de unos procesos que se describen allí. Adicionalmente, hay gran cantidad de información relevante sobre la gestión y estimación de costos de los materiales en la literatura especializada en el tema. El presente documento tiene como objetivo proporcionar una guía conceptual para la gestión y estimación de costos de los recursos materiales en la construcción con base en la Guía PMBOK y la literatura especializada en el tema. La guía desarrollada en este documento mostró los procesos de la Guía PMBOK en los que se analizan todos los aspectos a tener en cuenta para gestionar y estimar los costos del material, el sistema rutinario que sufre el material para controlarlo efectivamente y la herramienta de Análisis de Precios Unitarios (APU) para estimar los costos del material correctamente. *
dc.description.abstractenglish	The cost overruns and delays are often due to inaccuracies in estimating costs and lack of management for care and projects by the construction industry. For the execution of a construction project to be successful it is due to the management of the resources used, the material is the primary resource since it can represent up to 70% of the total project costs. Therefore, if a management and an estimation of the costs of the materials is carried out, substantial savings will be generated in the project. The management of the materials allows to have the material at the right time, with a reasonable cost and with the required quality, but the phenomenon is still not understood. Professional associations such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) have already been concerned with the subject and the medium of their book Guide for the Fundamentals for Project Management (PMBOK Guide) of the general guidelines for project management for the medium of application of some processes that are displayed there. In addition, there is a large amount of relevant information on the management and estimation of costs of materials in specialized literature on the subject. The purpose of this document is to provide a conceptual guide for the management and management of the costs of material resources in construction, based on the PMBOK Guide and specialized literature on the subject. The guide developed in this document showed the processes of the PMBOK Guide in which all aspects are analyzed and taken into account to manage and estimate the costs of the material, the routine system that is used to control the use and the analysis tool of Unit prices (APU) to estimate material costs correctly. *
