dc.description.abstract	Los gastos económicos que se generan de manera directa e indirecta debido a los accidentes viales que tienen como consecuencia la pérdida de vidas humanas son asumidas por el estado y las aseguradoras lo que, sumado al creciente número de muertes en la vía, posterior a la pandemia en el año 2020, representa una problemática para las distintas ciudades del país. Conocer el costo el social de estas muertes no pretende darle un valor a la vida, pero permite estimar el impacto económico generado y como este puede afectar a la ciudad visualizando, además, la necesidad de buscar alternativas que preserven la vida. Luego de la recolección y el análisis de datos se estimó que la ciudad de Bucaramanga obtuvo una pérdida de $ $47.198’062.272 COP correspondiente a la muerte de 23 personas víctimas fatales en el año 2023 que se encontraban entre los 24 y 35 años, esto representa un 0.05% del PIB del departamento santandereano en el mismo año.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The economic costs generated directly and indirectly by traffic accidents resulting in the loss of human lives are borne by the state and insurance companies. This, combined with the rising number of road fatalities following the 2020 pandemic, poses a significant challenge for various cities across the country. Understanding the social cost of these deaths does not aim to assign a value to life, but rather to estimate the economic impact and how it may affect the city—highlighting the need to seek alternatives that preserve life. After data collection and analysis, it was estimated that the city of Bucaramanga incurred a loss of $ 47.198’062.272 million due to the deaths of 23 individuals between the ages of 24 and 35 at 2023. This represents 0.05% of the GDP of the department of Santander for the same year.
