El propósito de este artículo, más que hacer un análisis de la literatura que recientemente se ha producido en torno al proceso de independencia, es el de llamar la atención sobre la necesidad de analizar un campo que se encuentra casi inexplorado en la región Caribe y que permitirá llegar a una comprensión amplia de su complejidad social. Tal campo es el que ha enfocado su mirada en el proceso de transición de las familias de poder en el Caribe colombiano. The purpose of this article, more than to make an analysis of the literature that recently has taken place around the process of independence, it is the one of getting the attention about the necessity of analyzing a field that is almost unexplored in the Caribbean region and that it will allow to arrive to a wide understanding of their social complexity. Such a field is the one that has focused its look in the process of transition of the families of power in the Colombian Caribbean.Keywords: Dynamic social, elites, nets of power, family, independence.
