Se hace un estudio detallado del Girón en la sección del Río Lebrija, entre las estaciones de Bocas y Conchal, sobre el ferrocarril de Bucaramanga a Puerto Wilches. El Girón se presenta con una potencia de 2.600m, en los cuales se han podido distinguir en forma clara los siguientes niveles: un nivel inferior lutítico que en 'su mitad superior alterna con areniscas (550 m.); un nivel arcósico inferior (170 m.); un nivel superior de lutitas rojas alternando con areniscas (850 m.) ; un nivel arcósico superior (700 m.); un nivel de lutitas rojas (230 m.) Estos niveles se encuentran ampliamente distribuidos al W de la falla del Suárez, mientras que en su lado E aparecen solo los niveles más inferiores. La base del Girón es inconstante, en Bocas se encuentra apoyado aparentemente concordante con el Carbonífero, al S de Piedecuesta está apoyado sobre el metamórfico y aparece un conglomerado basal de cantos ígneos principalmente porfídicos que no se encuentra en Bocas, no obstante que el nivel Iutítico basal se observa en las dos partes. El techo está determinado por la discordancia Girón-Cretácica
This is a detailed study of the Girón Formation, in the section of the Lebrija River, between Bocas and Conchal on the Bucaramanga-Puerto Wilches railroad. The Girón Formation has a thickness of 2.600 m. and clearly have been distinguished the following levels: a lower lutitic level with alternated sandstones in his upper section (550 m.); alternating with sandstones (850 m.); an upper arkosic level (700 m.) and a level of red lutites (230 m.) These levels broadly are distributed W of the Suárez fault and at the same time in its E side only appeared the lowest levels. The Girón basement is not consistent, in Bocas it is found apparently concordant with the Carboniferus, S of Piedecuesta is resting over the Metamorphic and there is a basal conglomerate of igneous pebbles mainly porphirics which is not in Bocas in spite that the Iutitic basal level is present in both parts. The top is determined by the discordance Girón-Cretacic.
