RESUMEN Este artículo presenta los resultados del diseño y desarrollo de un sistema de telemetría, que envía de forma inalámbrica la lectura de los consumos de los medidores de agua (datos simulados) a través de la red Global System for Mobile communications/General Packet Radio Service (GSM/GPRS), implementada por los tres operadores celulares existentes en Colombia: Tigo, Movistar y Comcel. Este servicio ofrecido tiene la particularidad de hacer uso de Internet en donde por medio de un servidor se implementa una serie de aplicaciones que permiten recibir, almacenar y procesar la información en una base de datos, que pueda ser vista desde cualquier parte del mundo mediante una página Web. Este trabajo se centra sólo en la etapa de transmisión/recepción de datos que hace parte del proyecto de maestría "DISEÑO Y CONSTRUCCIÓN DE UN SISTEMA DE TELEMETRÍA PARA AUTOMATIZAR LOS PROCESOS DE LECTURA EN LOS MEDIDORES DE AGUA CON TRANSMISIÓN MAGNÉTICA", por lo cual no se realiza la digitalización de los medidores mecánicos (analógicos) existentes. Adicionalmente como verificación al buen funcionamiento del diseño de este sistema se presentan los resultados obtenidos de las pruebas realizadas con este tipo de transmisión, haciendo uso de un Modem y realizando envíos de información simulada hasta el elemento de visualización final como lo es la página de Internet. ABSTRACT This article presents experimental results related to the design and development of a telemetry system, that sends the reading of the consumptions of water measures (simulated data) through the Global network for System communications/General Mobile Packet Radio Service (GSM/GPRS), implemented by the three existing cellular operators in Colombia: Tigo, Movistar and Comcel. This service has the particularity to make use of Internet where by means of a series of applications allows to receive, store and process the information in a data base. This information can be seen from any part of the world through a Web Page. This work is centered only in the stage of transmission/reception of data that is part of a master project "DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION OF A TELEMETRY SYSTEM TO AUTOMATE the PROCESSES OF READING IN THE WATER MEASURES WITH MAGNETIC TRANSMISSION", thus digitalization of the mechanical measurers (analogical)is not considered. Additionally, as a verification of operation, results obtained with this type of transmission using a modem and sending simulated information to the webpage, are presented.
