RESUMEN Este artículo somete a crítica la idea de "fundación" de una ciudad hispánica en la meseta de Bucarnmanga, asi como la pretensión de hallar una "fe de bautismo" de tal nacimiento. Quiere asi situar el poblamiento humano de tal sitio en la dimensión juridica que le corresponde: la de una "república de indios". Por otra parte, llama la atención sobre las ordenanzas de minería de 1623 que han sido publicadas recientemente, las cuales contribuyen a situar los poblamientos tempranos de Bucarnmanga en el ordenamiento pulítico del "Real de Minas" de su mismo nombre.
SUMMARY This article subjects to criticism the idea of "founding" of a hispanic city in the plateau of Bucaramanga, as well as the claim of finding a "baptismal certificate" of such a birth. It wants, in this way, to place the human settling of this site in the juridical dimension it pertains to: that of a "Republic of lndians". On the other hand, it attracs attention on the "Ordenanzas de Minería" of 1623 which have been published recently and that have contributed to place the early settlings of Bucaramanga in the political arranging of "Real de Minas" which has the same name.
