| dc.description.abstract | El uso de materiales reciclables en la ingeniería se ha presentado como una alternativa, no sólo para contrarrestar el grave problema de la contaminación ambiental, sino también para modificar las propiedades de materiales como el mortero. Teniendo en cuenta la elevada acumulación de residuos de envases de vidrio en nuestro medio, se brinda la posibilidad de darle un nuevo uso como el de reemplazar parte del agregado fino de los morteros por partículas vidrio, con el fin de evaluar algunas propiedades físico-mecánicas y su desempeño en ambientes agresivos. El deterioro en el mortero se debe a acciones físicas, mecánicas o químicas, las cuales están relacionadas con las características del mortero, sus componentes, el proceso de elaboración, fraguado, curado y el medio ambiente a los que será sometido. El estudio revela que al adicionar partículas de vidrio estabilizado con estireno a las mezclas de mortero, aumenta las propiedades mecánicas de compresión, flexión y tracción y además, las propiedades como la absorción capilar, la resistencia al ataque de sulfatos, la permeabilidad, la porosidad y la difusión al Ion cloruro mejoran sustancialmente con respecto al mortero normal, dándole grandes ventajas a este nuevo material a la hora de utilizarse en la industria de la construcción en especial por su durabilidad y resistencia ante ambientes agresivos. | |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | The use of recycled materials in the engineering has been an alternative not only To counteract the serious problem of the environmental contamination but also tochange the characteristics of some materials as the mortar. Having into account thehigh amount of residues of glass containers in our environment, it is offert thepossibility of giving it a new use as that one of replacing part of the fine aggregate ofthe mortars by glass particles. This is with the goal of evaluating some physicmechanical characteristics and their performance in aggressive environment. The mortar deterioration is due to some physical mechanical or chemical actions,which are related to the characteristics, the components, the manufacturing, forgingand curing processes as well as to the environment it will be submitted. The present work reveals that when adding stabilized glass particles with Styrene tothe mixtures of mortar, it increases the mechanical characteristics of compression,bending and traction. Besides, some characteristics such as the capillaryabsorption, the resistance to the sulphates attack, the permeability, the porosity andthe diffusion to the ion chloride may improve significantly in relation to the normalmortar.
