dc.description.abstractEl presente trabajo de investigación contiene un análisis de las problemáticas centrales en la novela El cuento de la criada de Margaret Atwood. Para lo cual es necesario partir de una lectura general sobre la tradición distópica que precede a la obra, con el fin de reconocer las características que la configuran, así como los aspectos culturales y sociales que permitieron el surgimiento de la novela distópica. Posteriormente, se selecciona el tema de análisis: la consolidación del Estado fundamentalista como el factor que fuerza y moviliza las transformaciones internas y externas en los personajes, principalmente en los femeninos. Y se consolida un diálogo entre la obra y la teoría multidisciplinar, especialmente en lo relativo a la filosofía y la historia, así como el recorrido por aquellas investigaciones que ya han tratado la novela y que alimentaron la comprensión general de la misma.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis research work aims to present an analysis of the central elements or issues in the novel The Handmaid's tale by Margaret Atwood. In order to do this, it is necessary to begin with a general reading of the dystopian tradition that precedes the work, in order to recognize the characteristics that shape it, as well as the cultural and social aspects that enabled the emergence of such narratives. This preliminary research exercise is marked by a reflexive and critical reading of the novel, in order to map a clear route in the selection of the analytical theme: the consolidation of the fundamentalist state as the factor that compels and mobilizes internal and external transformations in the characters, mainly the female ones. Additionally, the search and selection of authors with whom contribute a dialogue between the work and multidisciplinary theory, particularly regarding philosophy and history, are conducted. It also encompasses a review of those studies that have already addressed the novel and enriched its overall understanding.
