dc.description.abstractLa caracterización de una cuenca hidrográfica está dirigida a cuantificar los parámetros que describen su estructura física y territorial con el fin de establecer las posibilidades y limitaciones de sus Recursos Naturales pero también para identificar los problemas presentes y potenciales. El uso de herramientas computacionales facilita la caracterización de una cuenca, permitiendo conocer a largo plazo el comportamiento de la misma ante eventos de máximas precipitaciones. Arcgis es el software utilizado para la elaboración de este proyecto y el área de estudio para aplicar dicha herramienta computacional en la caracterización de una cuenca es la Subcuenca del Río de Oro Alto, el cual hace parte de la cuenca del Río de Oro Santander-. Se propuso, como un primer paso para el desarrollo del proyecto, la obtención de un Modelo de Elevación Digital (DEM) de la National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), del conocido satélite ASTER. Con la Subcuenca localizada y definida se calcularon las características físicas, parámetros geomorfológicos y parámetros de relieve, usando las herramientas proporcionadas por Arcgis. Luego, se identificó cuáles parámetros de la cuenca son requeridos por el software HEC-HMS, de tal manera que a futuro se pueda desarrollar un modelo de simulación tipo lluvia escorrentía. La caracterización de la cuenca mostró que la zona de estudio es de área pequeña, presenta una pendiente con terreno accidentado o montañoso, la Subcuenca es alargada, irregular y presenta fuertes relieves y pendientes pronunciadas. También se encontró que la Subcuenca es perenne ya que transporta agua todo el año, es un rio de transición y con velocidades moderadas y de alta sinuosidad.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe characterization of a watershed is aimed at quantifying the parameters that describe its physical and territorial structure in order to establish the possibilities and limitations of its Natural Resources but also to identify the present and potential problems. The use of computational tools facilitates the characterization of a basin, allowing to know in the long term the behavior of the same to events of maximum rainfall. Arcgis is the software used for the development of this project and the area of study to apply this computational tool in the characterization of a basin is the Rio Alto Oro Sub-basin, which is part of the Rio de Oro -Santander-. It was proposed as a first step for the development of the project, obtaining a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the well-known ASTER satellite. With the localized and defined Sub-basin, the physical characteristics, geomorphological parameters and relief parameters were calculated using the tools provided by Arcgis. Then, it was identified which basin parameters are required by the HEC-HMS software, so that a rainfall runoff simulation model can be developed in the future. The characterization of the basin showed that the study area is of small, presents a slope with uneven or mountainous terrain, the Sub-basin is long, irregular and has strong reliefs and steep slopes. It was also found that the Sub-basin is perennial since it transports water all year, is a transition river and with moderate speeds and high sinuosity.
