dc.description.abstractColombia afronta hoy retos que comprometen la correcta gestión de su biodiversidad, siendo la información de las colecciones biológicas muy importante para el estudio y la toma de decisiones sobre la misma. Basado en el estudio y determinación taxonómica de especímenes botánicos depositados en el herbario UIS, se da a conocer un primer acercamiento hacia la composición de espermatófitas que se presentan en la Serranía de los Yariguíes. Se revisaron, determinaron taxonómicamente y georreferenciaron 1712 ejemplares, encontrando un total de 145 familias, 520 géneros y 1031 morfoespecies. Teniendo en cuenta el número de especies y géneros sobresalen las siguientes familias: Melastomataceae (20 géneros / 89 especies), Rubiaceae (38 / 86), Asteraceae (38 / 75), Fabaceae (40 / 70), Solanaceae (10 / 32), Acanthaceae (17 / 30), Piperaceae (3 / 29) y Ericaceae (13 / 26). Los géneros con mayor cantidad de especies son: Miconia (46 especies), Solanum (21), Piper (18), Palicourea (14), Psychotria (12), Clusia, Passiflora y Tillandsia (11), Mikania, Peperomia y Schefflera (10). Las hierbas, árboles y arbustos son los hábitos de vida predominantes. Se pone en evidencia la alta diversidad florística del área de estudio, así como la importancia de su conservación.
dc.description.abstractenglishCurrently, Colombia faces challenges that compromise the correct management of its biodiversity, and the information from biological collections is very important for the study and decision-making on it. Based on the study and taxonomic determination of botanical specimens deposited in UIS herbarium, a first approach towards the composition of spermatophytes presents in the Serranía de los Yariguíes is made here. 1712 specimens were reviewed, taxonomically determined and georeferenced, finding a total of 145 families, 520 genera and 1031 morphospecies. Taking into account the number of species and genera, the following families stand out as the most important: Melastomataceae (20 genera / 89 species), Rubiaceae (38/86), Asteraceae (38/75), Fabaceae (40/70), Solanaceae (10/32), Acanthaceae (17/30), Piperaceae (3/29) and Ericaceae (13/26). The genera with the highest number of species were Miconia (46 species), Solanum (21), Piper (18), Palicourea (14), Psychotria (12), Clusia, Passiflora and Tillandsia (11), Mikania, Peperomia and Schefflera (10). Herbs, trees and shrubs were the predominant life habits. The high floristic diversity of the study area is evidenced, as well as the importance of its conservation.
