dc.description.abstract	El clima es un factor que influye en la estructura, la composición y la diversidad florística de las comunidades vegetales que se establecen en un área; debido a que factores como la pluviosidad, la humedad, y la temperatura, exigen a las plantas generar estrategias de adaptación. La Serranía de Los Yariguíes se encuentra localizada en el departamento de Santander, y hace parte de las estribaciones occidentales de la Cordillera Oriental colombiana; tiene condiciones particulares de aislamiento geográfico, un amplio gradiente altitudinal, y dos vertientes con regímenes climáticos bien diferenciados, siendo el flanco occidental el que posee una mayor pluviosidad, humedad y precipitación, con respecto al oriental, que muestra características de cañón árido seco, con drenajes de poco caudal y poca humedad; lo que convierte a la serranía en un área propicia para la especiación. Con el objetivo de entender cómo las condiciones climáticas contrastantes entre las vertientes occidental y oriental de la Serranía de Los Yariguíes, influyen en la composición florística de las coberturas que allí se han establecido, se llevaron a cabo una serie de análisis cuantitativos y cualitativos para determinar la estructura, la composición y la diversidad florística de las coberturas presentes en estas vertientes, y dos análisis estadísticos multivariados empleando las 189 especies vegetales muestreadas, con los promedios de temperatura y precipitación mensuales anuales registrados para el área de estudio. Se encontró que en ambas vertientes existen árboles de gran porte, sin embargo, no hay diferencias significativas entre las áreas basales de dichos flancos. La composición florística indicó una mayor diversidad en el flanco occidental, comparado con el oriental. Además, en el primero, las especies con mayor importancia ecológica son numerosas; mientras que, en el segundo, Quercus humboldtii, Alfaroa williamsii y Calycolpus moritzianus representan más de la mitad del IVI. Finalmente, las ordenaciones multivariadas demostraron que existe una clara diferencia en la composición de las coberturas entre las dos vertientes, y que esas diferencias se encuentran relacionadas con las condiciones propias del clima en San Vicente de Chucurí y Zapatoca.
dc.description.abstractenglish	Climate is a factor that influences the structure, composition and floristic diversity of plant communities established in an area, because factors such as rainfall, humidity and temperature require plants to generate adaptation strategies. The Serranía de Los Yariguíes is located in the department of Santander, and is part of the western foothills of the Colombian Eastern Cordillera; It has particular conditions of geographic isolation, a wide altitudinal gradient, and two slopes with well differentiated climatic regimes, being the western flank the one with higher rainfall, humidity and precipitation, with respect to the eastern one, which shows characteristics of dry arid canyon, with drains of little flow and low humidity; which makes the mountain range an area conducive to speciation. In order to understand how the contrasting climatic conditions between the western and eastern slopes of the Serranía de Los Yariguíes, influence the floristic composition of the coverages that have been established there, a series of quantitative and qualitative analyses were carried out to determine the structure, composition and floristic diversity of the coverages present in these slopes, and two multivariate statistical analyses using the 189 plant species sampled, with the average annual monthly temperature and precipitation recorded for the study area. It was found that on both slopes there are large trees, however, there are no significant differences between the basal areas of these flanks. The floristic composition indicated a greater diversity on the western flank compared to the eastern flank. In addition, in the former, the most ecologically important species are numerous; whereas, in the latter, Quercus humboldtii, Alfaroa williamsii and Calycolpus moritzianus represent more than half of the IVI. Finally, multivariate ordinations showed that there is a clear difference in the composition of the cover between the two slopes, and that these differences are related to the climatic conditions in San Vicente de Chucurí and Zapatoca.
