dc.description.abstractenglishIn recent years there has been growing concern about the way are handled the waste generated by auto repair shops in particular. Hazardous wastes are being treated in an inappropriate manner without the security required, without minimum safety standards, affecting the health and causing a considerable impact on the environment. The citizens of the town of Aguachica Cesar seek alternatives to high temperatures and winds do not drag dust particles or prevent the weeds grow, for it used oils, which become an easy and economical way to solve this situation. There are no plans for education and prevention, we found that people who are auto mechanics as a profession on a daily basis are at high risk, caused by lack of knowledge of minimum standards that must be socialized to in order to create support plans to give them proper handling hazardous waste product regular maintenance of vehicles. This paper presents a classification of waste generated in auto repair shops in the city of Aguachica Cesar and disposal. It also collects existing information on the consequences produced by the type of waste identified on the health and the environment. It compares the handling procedures of hazardous waste with the current legal standard for these cases and is a matrix of impacts. Finally, we propose a solution to poor management of waste generated in the workshops identified auto mechanics in the municipality of Aguachica Cesar
