dc.description.abstractEn el presente trabajo se realiza un estudio acerca de la interacción existente entre el área metropolitana de Bucaramanga y los principales municipios del departamento de Santander: Socorro, Vélez, Barrancabermeja, Málaga y San Gil. Dicha interacción es entendida como el flujo vehicular entre ciudades, en donde se tomó como nodo principal el área metropolitana de Bucaramanga y como nodos secundarios los municipios mencionados, los cuales fueron elegidos por la importancia del rol histórico y administrativo que han desempeñado en el departamento. A dicha interacción que se presenta entre ciudades se denomina en la literatura de la economía urbana como sistema de ciudades o red de ciudades. El propósito de este trabajo es estudiar, bajo la luz del modelo de gravedad, el flujo vehicular que se presenta entre las capitales de provincia y la zona metropolitana de Bucaramanga para avanzar en el proceso de entendimiento sobre el funcionamiento entre estas y así, tener elementos que a futuro permitan el diseño de mejores políticas públicas. Para cumplir con dicho objetivo es necesario conocer cuáles son las variables que más influyen en el flujo vehicular y, a su vez, realizar la validación de las relaciones existentes a través de modelos econométricos, basados en los datos obtenidos en el departamento de Santander, como PIB, población, flujo vehicular intermunicipal y costos de transporte, de los años 2010 hasta 2015.
dc.description.abstractenglishIn this paper, a study is carried out on the interaction between the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga and the main municipalities of the Department of Santander: Socorro, Vélez, Barrancabermeja, Málaga and San Gil. This interaction is understood as the vehicular flow between cities, where the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga was taken as the main node and as secondary nodes the above-mentioned municipalities, which were chosen because of the importance of the historical and administrative role that they have played in the department. To this interaction that occurs between cities is called in the literature of the urban economy like system of cities or network of cities. The purpose of this work is to study, in the light of the model of gravity, the vehicular flow that occurs between the provincial capitals and the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga to advance in the process of understanding on the operation between these and thus, to have elements that in future allow the design of better public policies. To meet this objective, it is necessary to know which are the variables that most influence the vehicular flow and, in turn, to validate the existing relationships through econometric models, based on the data obtained in the Department of Santander, such as GDP, population, vehicular flow and transportation costs, from the years 2010 to 2015.
