dc.description.abstractEl objetivo fue evaluar la asociación entre la calidad de vida (CV) con la condición oral (CO) y la CO con la capacidad física funcional (CFF) en las personas mayores. Se realizó un estudio observacional analítico de corte transversal. El universo constituido por 101 y la muestra por 68 personas, que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Se estudiaron variables sociodemográficas; condiciones sistémicas, la CV, la CFF, la CO, la condición mental y los soportes sociales. Para el análisis se calcularon medidas de resumen según la naturaleza de cada variable. Se realizó un análisis de factores para determinar los atributos que integraron el constructo de CO. Se relacionaron las variables de salida (CV y CO) con cada variable explicatoria mediante pruebas de 2 y test exacto de Fisher. Se calcularon los OR crudos y sus intervalos de confianza. Se aplicó análisis de regresión logística, métodos de corrección de los OR, obteniendo los RR y se evalúo la bondad de ajuste de cada modelo. La calidad de vida en las personas mayores registró un promedio de 68.7±19.9 con rango entre 18 y 100. EL índice COP, el flujo salival y el dolor oral fueron atributos que definieron la condición bucodental; el 63.2% de la población tenía una mala condición oral. Una mala salud bucal afectó la calidad de vida de las personas mayores con RR 1.38 IC95%(0.72-1.97). El deterioro de la capacidad física funcional y el estado mental se asociaron con una mala condición oral con RR 3.63 IC95%(0.98-1.82) y 6.84 (1.38-2.32) respectivamente. Se requieren de programas orientados a intervenir integralmente a las personas mayores, mediante grupos inter y transdisciplinario con metas, objetivos y acciones claras que contribuyan a mejorar su calidad de vida.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe aims were to evaluate the association between the quality (CV) of life with the oral condition (CO) and the CO with the physical functional condition (CFF) in the elderly. An analytical observacional cross sectional study was made. The universe was constituted by 101 and the sample by 68 people, who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The variables of the study were social-demographic; general health, the CV, the CFF, the CO, mental state, and the social supports In the analysis, summary measures were calculated according to the nature of each variable. Analysis of factors was made to determine the attributes that integrated CO. The exit variables (CV and CO) were related to each other variables by 2 and Fisher exact test, the crude OR and intervals of confidence were calculated. Logistic regression analysis and methods of correction of the OR were applied and the RR were obtained and the goodness of fit of each models were evaluated. The quality of life in the elderly registered an average of 68.7±19.9 with rank between 18 and 100. The COP index, the salivary flow and the oral pain were attributes that defined the oral condition; the 63,2% of the population had a bad oral condition. A bad oral health affected the quality of life of the elderly with RR 1.38 IC95% (0.72-1.97). The deterioration of the functional physical conditioning and the mental state were associated with a bad oral condition with RR 3.63 IC95% (0.98-1.82) and 6.84 IC95% (1.38-2.32). Integral intervention programs to elderly was need by a inter and transdisciplinary group with clear goals, objective and actions that can give a better quality of life to the older
