dc.description.abstractenglish | This work shows a study of the evolution of the deformation that underwent the Medina Basin, located in the east foothill of the Cordillera Oriental, during of the Miocene-Pliocene interval, by means of analysis of the indicators of tectonic activity such as the paleocurrents and the sediments provenance. Its performance is based in the need of knowing the temporality of the Guaicaramo Fault which is the responsible of the formation of structures such as the Guavio Anticline, and the Nazareth and Rio Amarillo synclines, in order to establish relations with the temporality of the events of expulsion of hydrocarbons. The objective of this work is to determine in the time both the evolution of the growing of the orogen located to the west of the basin and the coming of the Guaicaramo Fault to the foredeep. From analysis of paleocurrents in trough cross stratification and ripples mark, and studies of sandstones provenance within the Carbonera and León formations and the Guayabo Group, is determined the existence of two flow path during the Miocene, which a flow path toward Northeast has a regional prevailing in the distal parts bringing sediments of sources units located in the southwest that even have not been exposed in the orogen near basin. This drainage regime is reversed during Miocene-Pliocene limit interval becoming to a flow toward west-northwest, showing the lifting of the Guavio Anticline. These results allow concluding that the onset of the activity of the Guaicaramo Fault took a place during Miocene-Pliocene limit interval, and the orogen shows a diachronism in the lifting of the source units in north sense.
