dc.description.abstractAprovechando los sondeos realizados para el proyecto de la vía Bucaramanga- Alto el Escorial, y con toma de datos litológicos, estructurales y geotécnicos se realizó la caracterización geológica y geotécnica de una zona de 2km2 al norte de Bucaramanga. En el presente trabajo la escala de trabajo fue 1: 10.000, mejorando así la cartografía que había en la zona como antecedente. En el ámbito geológico se brindó información para tener más certeza de la extensión de las Formaciones presentes en el área, además, se realizaron secciones delgadas que brindaron información de fósiles, composición y texturas de las rocas más predominantes. En la parte estructural, varias estructuras fueron propuestas de acuerda a datos estructurales, geomorfológicos y litológicos tenidos en cuenta. Adicionalmente, fue posible caracterizar geotécnicamente muestras representativas de las formaciones Diamante, Tiburón y Bocas. Otro aporte importante fue la reinterpretación de los sondeos realizados en el área de estudio, fue posible distinguir entre depósitos fluviales con depósitos asociados a procesos gravitacionales y además fue posible definir la unidad de ciertas rocas que aparecían a profundidad. El estudio sirve para abrir la puerta a futuras investigaciones con mayor detalle y que sean útiles para mejorar el conocimiento geológico y geotécnico del norte de Bucaramanga
dc.description.abstractenglishThrough the analysis of boreholes developed for the project of the Bucaramanga-Alto el Escorial road, and with collection of lithological, structural and geotechnical data, the geological and geotechnical characterization of an area of two square kilometers to the north of Bucaramanga was carried out. In the present work, the scale of work was 1: 10.000, thus improving the cartography that was in the area as antecedent. In the geological field, information is provided to be more sure of the extension of the Formations present in the area, in addition, thin sections were made providing information on fossils, composition and textures of the most predominant rocks. In the structural scope, several structures were proposed according to structural, geomorphological and lithological data taken into account. Additionally, representative samples of the Diamante, Tiburon and Bocas formations were geotechnically characterized. Another important contribution was the reinterpretation of the boreholes carried out in the study area, it was possible to distinguish between fluvial deposits with deposits associated with gravitational processes and it was also possible to define the correspondent unit of certain rocks that appeared in depth. The study serves to open the doors to future research in greater detail and to be useful to improve the geological and geotechnical knowledge of northern Bucaramanga.
