dc.description.abstractEl presente documento analiza el efecto de la inversión en infraestructura vial sobre el índice de desarrollo humano IDH de Colombia para el periodo 1990 y 2015. Basándose en la amplia literatura que aporta indicios de que las inversiones en infraestructura de transporte impactan el desarrollo económico de los países, esta investigación buscó reconocer en particular la relación entre inversión en carreteras y los cambios en el IDH, delimitando el estudio sobre cinco regiones que abarcan los principales departamentos del país, a saber, región atlántica, región oriental, región occidental, región sur y región Bogotá D.C. Como primera medida, se analizó la evolución de la inversión en infraestructura de transporte en las regiones de Colombia entre 1990 y 2015, seguido de la identificación de las características del desarrollo regional según el Índice de Desarrollo Humano 1990-2015 y, por último, se demostró el tipo de relación de los proyectos en carreteras y el IDH de Colombia para el periodo en estudio. Metodológicamente, se usaron datos de fuentes secundarias donde se reflejan las inversiones en infraestructura vial y el IDH por departamentos. Se estableció el uso del modelo econométrico de rezagos distribuidos como herramienta estadística idónea para el tipo de análisis que se requiere. Este modelo se prueba con el programa de software R. Como hallazgos, el estudio logró evidenciar que el desarrollo humano de las regiones analizadas en el tiempo estudiado no tiene relación directa con la inversión en infraestructura en carreteras en Colombia, es decir, que el desarrollo humano demostrado en el país durante el periodo seleccionado puede estar explicado por diferentes dinámicas económicas y sociales más no por la incidencia de inversión en infraestructura vial.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe present research is related to know the effect of investment in road infrastructure on the HDI human development index in the regions of Colombia for the period 1990 and 2015. Based on the extensive literature that provides indications that investments in transport infrastructure impacting the economic development of the countries, this research sought to recognize the particular relationship between road investment and changes in the HDI, delimiting the study on five regions that cover the main departments of the country, namely the Atlantic region, the eastern region, western region, southern region and Bogotá DC region As a first measure, the evolution of investment in transport infrastructure in the regions of Colombia between 1990 and 2015 was analyzed, followed by the identification of the characteristics of regional development according to the Human Development Index 1990-2015 and finally, it was demonstrated the relationship type of highway projects and the HDI of Colombia for the period under study. Methodologically, data from primary and secondary sources were used, reflecting investments in road infrastructure and the HDI by departments. The use of the distributed lag econometric model was established as the ideal statistical tool for the type of analysis required. This model is tested with the software program R. As findings, the study managed to show that the human development of the regions analyzed in the time studied is not directly related to investment in road infrastructure in Colombia, that is, that development demonstrated in the country during the selected period can be explained by different economic and social dynamics but not by the incidence of investment in road infrastructure.
