dc.description.abstractActualmente, vivimos en una era de descubrimiento intelectual en la cual el conocimiento se desarrolla rápidamente gracias a la ayuda de las tecnologías de información y comunicación. Los avances en comunicación están acelerando la habilidad para compartir información e ideas, así como el fomento de iniciativas para una sociedad globalizada. En la educación superior esto implica buscar posicionarse como universidades reconocidas internacionalmente cuyo fin sea el de fortalecer sus relaciones a través de la participación y la interacción con el mundo exterior. Este esfuerzo de internacionalizar la educación implica la transformación de las universidades, un esfuerzo proyectado a expandir sus alcances, cruzando fronteras y ofreciendo programas de educación superior a las comunidades internacionales. La Universidad Industrial de Santander se ha percatado de esta situación. Es por ello que es importante proyectar una imagen de lo que es la Universidad Industrial de Santander a través de una versión en inglés de su página Web orientada a las audiencias extranjeras. Dentro del alcance propuesto, se espera que algunos de los programas ofrecidos por la universidad atraigan la atención de los estudiantes internacionales. dc.description.abstractenglishNowadays, we are living in an era of intellectual discovery, in which knowledge develops rapidly thanks to the help of information and communication technologies. The advances in communication are speeding up the ability to share information and ideas, as well as promoting the initiative of a globalized society. In higher education, this implies that universities attempt to position themselves as internationally recognized institutions with the aim of strengthening their relations through participation and involvement with the outside world. This effort to internationalize education entails transformation of universities, meant to expand their education policy, crossing boundaries and offering higher education programs to international community. The Universidad Industrial de Santander has become aware of this situation. This is why it is of great importance to project an image of what the Universidad Industrial de Santander stands for by means of an English version of its web site for foreign audiences. Within this far-reaching educational policy, it is hoped that some of the programs offered by the University will attract attention of international students.
