dc.description.abstractEl trabajo parte del periodo político de la Regeneración (1885-1899) para examinar las características culturales y políticas del proyecto nacional que empezó a configurarse con Rafael Núñez y Miguel Antonio Caro y que estuvo vigente hasta el siglo XX, aspectos abordados en dos partes. La primera parte subraya que el proyecto nacional Regenerador, fue un intento por adelantar una modernización tradicionalista en el país, que rechazando aspectos básicos de la modernidad como las libertades y derechos políticos y civiles provenientes de Occidente, incorporó su contraparte económica y material, como el fortalecimiento del Estado central, el control de los caudillos, y la modernización de las instituciones estatales; y tuvo como principal colaborador a la Iglesia Católica. Lo anterior permite señalar que la Regeneración en Colombia no fue un proyecto político anómalo y anacrónico en comparación con sus vecinos latinoamericanos. Sobre todo, fue una metáfora progresista que llamó a la reconstitución del país. Una expresión verbal que no nació con Rafael Núñez, por el contrario, se encuentra dentro de los lenguajes políticos del siglo XIX, proviene de la teología y las ciencias naturales y fue redefinida a lo largo de la centuria. La segunda parte profundiza en los atributos culturales del proyecto nacional. Examina la presencia de una nación católica durante el periodo y sus principales manifestaciones, en aspectos como las fiestas patrias, la memoria oficial y la historia,, a partir de la concepción de una comunidad católica imaginada y de una nación católica presente en las instituciones políticas, la ciudadanía y el culto público a Dios.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis project begins the political period of the regeneration (1885-1899) to examine the cultural characteristics and polity of the national project it began to shape whit Rafael Núñez and Miguel Antonio Caro, and that was effective until the 20th Century, aspects approached in two parts. The first part underline that the national project Regenerator, went an attempt for moving forward a traditionalistic modernization in the country, that by refusing basic aspects of the modernity as the liberties and political and civil Rights of West, incorporated your economic counterpart and material, as the fortification of the states central, the control of the caudillos and the modernization of the state institutes, and that had as main collaborator to the Catholic church. The previous permits point out that the regeneration in Colombia was not a political anomalous and anachronic project in comparison with your neighboring Latin Americans. Above all, it went a progressive metaphor it called to the reconstitution of the country. Verbal expression that not rises with Rafael Núñez, on the contrary, it finds in the political languages of the 19th Century, comes of the theology and the natural sciences and was redefined along the century. The second part goes deep into in the cultural attributes of the national project. Examine the presence of a Catholic nation during the period and your main manifestations, in aspects as the national celebrities, the official memory and the History, as of the conception of a Catholic community imagined and of a Catholic nation present in the political institutes, the citizenship and the public cult of God.
