dc.description.abstractNosotros registramos un total de siete especies de murciélagos, refugiándose en el interior de cinco ecosistemas subterráneos, ubicados en sur-oriente del departamento de Santander, Colombia. La riqueza en cada cueva varió de una en la cueva El Arrayán (Zapatoca), a cinco en la cueva El Indio (El Páramo). El gremio alimenticio de los frugívoros domina la diversidad con tres especies y la mayor cantidad de individuos en cada ecosistema. Los nectarívoro-polinívoros presentan dos especies, los insectívoros y sanguívoros una especie cada gremio. La diversidad beta parece mostrar una complementación entre las cuevas a nivel regional. Todas las especies, y la mayoría de las colonias fueron halladas en la zona profunda de las cuevas, además se evidenció que el número de grupos con más de diez individuos aumenta con la profundidad del ecosistema subterráneo. Los refugios pueden ser temporales o permanentes, además, pueden cambiar de número de individuos a través de los muestreos. La altura del refugio, la temperatura y humedad relativa pueden afectar la selección de refugio, para los eventos de maternidad de las especies. La diversidad de especies es baja comparada con otros estudios en cuevas latinoamericanas. El uso turístico de las cuevas parece no tener efecto sobre la riqueza de especies, sin embargo, la composición de especies muestra que las especies más comunes son las únicas que se encuentran en poblaciones representativas.
dc.description.abstractenglishWe recorded a total of seven (7) bat species, sheltering within five (5) subterranean ecosystems, located in the south-east of the department of Santander, Colombia. The richness in every cave ranged from one (1) in Arrayán cave (Zapatoca), to five (5) in the El Indio cave (El Páramo). The food guild of the frugivorous dominates the diversity with three (3) species and more individuals in each ecosystem. The nectar-feeding have two (2) species, insectivores and sanguivorous one (1) species every guild. Beta diversity seems to show an interaction between the caves at a regional level. All species, and most of the colonies were found in the deep zone of the caves, also, it was shown that the number of groups with greater than ten (10) individuals, increases with the depth of the underground ecosystem. Shelters can be temporary or permanent, and the number of individuals can change through the sampling process. The height of the shelter, temperature and relative humidity can affect the selection of refuge for maternity events of species. Species diversity is low compared with other studies in Latin American caves. The touristic use of the caves seems to have no effect on species richness, but species composition shows that the most common species are the only ones found in representative populations.
