dc.description.abstractSe estudia la influencia que tienen las temperaturas superficiales del mar (Atlántico y Pacífico) sobre la variabilidad de la precipitación en algunas estaciones del departamento de Santander para diferentes escalas temporales. Se cuantificó el grado de dependencia lineal que tiene la precipitación con los diferentes índices del fenómeno ENSO (MEI y SOI) y las temperaturas del Atlántico tropical. Para esto se estimaron correlaciones trimestrales (rezagadas y directas) entre la precipitación y los índices analizados. También se realizó un análisis no lineal por medio de la metodología de Onditas. En general se observan correlaciones estadísticamente significativas entre el Índice de Oscilación del Sur (SOI) de un trimestre determinado y la precipitación del mismo trimestre y el trimestre siguiente (especialmente el SOI de SON y la precipitación de DEF). No se encontraron correlaciones estadísticamente significativas con el índice que representa la temperatura del Atlántico tropical. El análisis no lineal permitió observar periodos significativos de 6 meses en todas las estaciones (ciclo semianual de la precipitación) y el periodo del fenómeno ENSO en la gran mayoría de las estaciones. Estos resultados son importantes para el avance en el entendimiento de los procesos macroclimáticos que afectan la precipitación en la región del departamento de Santander.
dc.description.abstractenglishWe study the influence of sea surface temperatures (Atlantic and Pacific) on the variability of rainfall in some stations of the department of Santander to different time scales.The degree of linear dependency of precipitation with different indices of ENSO phenomenon (MEI and SOI) and the tropical Atlantic temperatures, was quantified. We estimated quarterly correlations (lagged and direct) between precipitation and analyzed indices. We also performed a nonlinear analysis using the wavelet methodology. In general, were observed statistically significant correlations between the South Oscillation Index (SOI) of a certain trimester and precipitation for that trimester and the following trimesters (SON SOI and DEF precipitation, especially). Not found statistically significant correlations with the index that represents the tropical Atlantic temperature. Nonlinear analysis allowed observed significant periods of 6 months in all stations (semi-annual cycle of rainfall) and the ENSO phenomenon period in most stations. These results are important for the advance in the processes macroclimatic understanding that affect precipitation in the region of Santander Department.
