dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio se propone examinar el problema de la matematización del estudio del mundo natural; analizar sus pretensiones, sus presupuestos y el estatus ontológico del conocimiento producto de ello. Se procura el examen del contenido y forma de los razonamientos abstractos empleados por la matemática para realizar sus demostraciones, especialmente las que pueden encontrarse en los libros de Elementos de Euclides de Alejandría. Para cumplir con la tarea postulada, se tomarán la teoría del significado aristotélica y su idea de una Filosofía Primera como puntos de anclaje para la discusión. La interpretación pitagorizante del mundo natural, sin lugar a dudas, es, en la actualidad, la lectura ortodoxa del mundo natural. Por esta razón, se hace necesario reconstruir críticamente la manera como inició en la antigüedad y como, desde entonces, ha suscitado críticas importantes. Especialmente, el trabajo se concentrará en las críticas hechas por Aristóteles desde su Metafísica. La discusión entre matematicismo y esencialismo no quiere plantearse en términos de pretender identificar un paradigma con lo verdadero y al contrario con, entonces, lo falso. Justamente éste es el problema. Se pretende proponer una forma de que matematicismo y esencialismo sean compaginables. Pues es verdad que en la naturaleza se dan tanto formas matemáticas como esencias, diría Aristóteles.
