dc.description.abstractenglish | Breast cancer is only detected at an advanced stage, what it causes to be the main cause of cancer death in women in the world. In order to reduce the incidence and mortality rates, mammography is used in Colombia. However, this does not have the impact that is required. In this project the use of the FED-SA technique is proposed to detect biochemical anomalies related to the field effect through a spectral analysis, which would detect changes from the beginning of cancer. By using the FED-SA device, four areas of interest were illuminated in each breast, for 24 patients. This illumination was done with laser light in the near infrared and for 10 seconds the light retro-dispersed by the tissue was measured. The data collection was made following the protocol of measures established by the technique, under the endorsement of the ethics committee of the Universidad Industrial de Santander and the According to the amount of obtained data, of intensity in function of time, a process was implemented to eliminate the white noise, later the fast Fourier transform was applied with two sampling windows, 512 and 1024. With the squared magnitude of FFT, they were built 1152 spectrograms, corresponding to 48 spectrograms for each patient. For the analysis of the spectrograms, the data was ordered by sampling window; frequency ranges were established in the spectrograms and were labeled as abnormal or normal according to their clinical history. Subsequently, box diagrams were implemented and an ANOVA analysis was carried out. Within the results obtained, there are differences between normal and abnormal tissue in the quadrants: left and right external lower quadrant, right external superior quadrant, right internal superior quadrant, for those the was obtained a value of p<0.05.
