dc.description.abstractEste trabajo aborda los artistas plásticos santandereanos que tuvieron una activa participación en los escenarios del arte contemporáneo en Colombia, es decir, en los salones de arte realizados en Bogotá y las bienales organizadas en Cali y Medellín. La década de 1960 representó un giro en la concepción y función del arte. Así, los artistas que se desenvolvieron en la nueva plástica debieron atender al llamado del arte contemporáneo, viéndose en la necesidad de formarse en lugares distantes a Santander, donde el contexto artístico estaba concebido bajo un arte costumbrista y retinal. Los artistas santandereanos se valieron principalmente de la pintura, el dibujo, el grabado y la fotografía para realizar sus producciones plásticas. Este trabajo se desarrolló de la siguiente manera: primero, una introducción que da cuenta de la visión artística de la época, tanto en el contexto mundial como colombiano; segundo una revisión de los artistas presentes en los escenarios del arte colombiano, visibilizando su proceso dentro de esa esfera artística; tercero una aproximación a la situación artística y cultural de Bucaramanga, capital del departamento de Santander, para comprender la situación de los nuevos artistas en la ciudad, así como las posibilidades de educarse en el arte; y por último, cuarto, un catálogo sobre artistas que durante esas dos décadas se destacaron por su activa participación artística, mostrando su biografía y trayectoria.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis work talks about plastic artists from Santander who had an active participation at the sceneries of the contemporary art in Colombia, it means, at the art salons realized in Bogotá, and the biennials organized in Cali and Medellin. The 1960’s represented a turn out in the function and art conception. Thus, the artists who worked in the new plastic conception had to answer the new calling to the contemporary art, seeing themselves in the necessity of studying arts in places away from Santander, where the plastic context was conceived under a costumbrism and formal art. Santanderean artists have used principally painting, drawing, engraving and photography to make theirs plastic productions. This work was elaborated in a specific fashion of development. To start with, an introduction of the artistic vision during those times is presented in both a worldwide and national context, that of Colombia. Secondly, a review of the artists who were in the multiple sceneries of Colombian Art, showing their process and progress in the artistic sphere is developed. Thirdly, an approach regarding the cultural and artistic background of Bucaramanga, capital city of Santander province, is introduced, for the comprehension of the new opportunities for nowadays artists in that city (ciudad). Finally, the thesis is concluded with a presentation of a catalogue of those artists during the last two decades, including their biographies and trajectories.
