dc.description.abstractEste estudio es una aproximación a la obra historiográfica del . Su objetivo es analizar, en contexto, sus principales obras a la luz de la propuesta metodología de la historia intelectual. Por consiguiente el trabajo aborda el cony se desenvolvió como historiador aficionado y en el que produjo sus obras. Se parte de la hipótesis de que la obra de los historiadores aficionados de la primera generación de la Academia Colombiana de Historia (1903-1925) constituían verdaderos ejercicios históricos ya que en ellos sus autores aplicaron el método histórico positivista que primaba durante la época y que resaltaba el valor de la historia por basarse en documentos de primera mano y en resaltar los acontecimientos o hechos relacionados con la nación. La investigación logra francesa que dominaba los estudios históricos de la época y que se interesó y de hecho lo hizo en escribir historia patria para enaltecer a la nación con apoyo en materiales históricos de primera mano. Esta aproximación historiográfica se basa en documentación de primera mano, como correspondencia personal del personaje objeto de estudio y documentación oficial; también se apoya en la sobre la vida intelectual de principios del siglo XX.
