dc.description.abstractenglish | Solar photovoltaic energy has excelled in recent years, increasing exponentially worldwide. Although they have been considered efficient in field conditions, there is a phenomenon that causes adverse effects on the modules, this is known as potential induced degradation (PID), therefore, it is essential to implement a methodology that can detect this alteration thus preventing irreversible damage leading to a premature change of the same. With this degree work we sought to analyze various methods to determine PID in crystalline silicon panels and select the most appropriate to implement it in the solar photovoltaic installation of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technology located in Medellin - Colombia. The development of this project consisted of four chapters; in the first one, the phenomenon of potential induced degradation (PID), its possible causes and repercussions were studied in depth, then the leakage currents responsible for PID were modeled and the humidity, voltage, temperature and the materials that compose the photovoltaic cell were correlated with the appearance of leakage currents that originate this phenomenon. In the second one, the in-situ methodologies found in the available technical literature were discussed, and consequently, a comparative table was made showing differences, similarities, advantages and disadvantages among them. In the third part, relevant aspects related to the latitude, altitude and climatology of the city where the photovoltaic system is located were presented, then the description of the system and its technical specifications were shown. In the fourth, a plan was structured to establish which of the methods was the appropriate one to detect PID in the photovoltaic modules installed in the center of technology and advanced manufacturing in order to suggest an analysis to verify the operating status of the panels.
