dc.description.abstractLos sistemas kársticos ocupan una parte importante de la corteza continental alrededor del mundo y constituyen uno de los ambientes más vulnerables al cambio climático y a las actividades humanas. En Santander se han reportado la existencia de más de 100 cuevas asociadas a la Formación Rosablanca y Formación Tablazo principalmente. El municipio de El Peñón constituye un extenso e importante sistema kárstico, con una gran riqueza geológica, paisajística, arqueológica y subterránea. El desarrollo kárstico de la región está regido por el control tectónico de la zona evidenciado en las orientaciones preferenciales NW-SE y NE-SW que adquieren las unidades exo y endokársticas. El estado casi prístino de la gran mayoría de estas manifestaciones subterráneas permite su estudio para la contribución al planteamiento de alternativas que vean este patrimonio como un recurso con gran potencial para aportarle al desarrollo sostenible de los territorios rurales. En este trabajo de investigación se identifican y valoran 6 potenciales geotopos en cercanías al municipio de El Peñón. Todos los geotopos presentan valores medios en los intereses científico, didáctico y turístico, a excepción de la galería inferior de la Caverna Los Carracos que arroja un alto valor científico. En la galería inferior de la Caverna Los Carracos y la Cueva del Oro se lleva a cabo un estudio mineralógico de la gran variedad de espeleotemas presentes en estas, predominando los carbonatos, sulfatos y óxidos, trazas encontradas en el Oro se asocian con aportes de Cobre, evidenciado en malaquita producto de la alteración de la calcopirita, relacionando las características ontogénicas.
dc.description.abstractenglishKarst systems occupy an important part of the continental crust around the world and constitutes one of the most vulnerable environments to climate change and human cavities. In Santander has been reported the existence of more than 100 caves associated with the Rosablanca and Tablazo Formation. The municipality of El Peñón is an extensive and important karst system, and too a great geological, landscape, archaeological and underground wealth. Karstic development of the regions is controlled by the local and regional tectonic of the area evidenced in the preferential orientations NW-SE and NE-SW in the exo and endokarstics units. Pristinity of the majority the subterranean manifestations allow it´s study for the contribution to the approach of alternatives for the karstic potential, being a resource with great potential to contribute to the sustainable development of the rural territories. In this research, 6 geotopos potential are identified and valued near to municipality of El Peñón. All valued geotopos present average values in scientific, didactic an tourist interests, the lower gallery of the Los Carracos Cavern is the exception, which has a high scientific value. In the lower gallery of the Los Carracos Caverns and the Golden Cave a mineralogical study is carried out of the great variety of speleothems presents, predominating carbonates, sulphates, and oxides, the traces found in the Golden Cave are associated with contributions od zinc or copper, the latter has been evidenced within the cave in malachite product of the chalcopyrite alteration. The different textures and compositions lead to give individual ontogenic characteristics that could be related to each other.
