dc.description.abstractEsta investigación se centró en aportar desde Trabajo Social un análisis de los elementos que pueden llegar a implementarse en una futura política pública dirigida al cuidador informal del adulto mayor con Alzheimer en Colombia. Para lograr esto, el trabajo partió de un seminario de investigación, se seleccionó una población, objeto de estudio, conformada por 10 individuos que se reconocieron como cuidadores informales de pacientes con Alzheimer en la ciudad de Bucaramanga y se recolectó información por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados arrojaron 3 categorías experiencia, disposición y conocimiento al momento de cuidar al paciente. Esto permite concluir que la sintomatología que presentan estos pacientes es diversa y genera un desgaste en los cuidadores y una sobrecarga, es importante resaltar que la salud mental de los cuidadores es un aspecto indispensable, ya que afecta directamente el grado de bienestar tanto laboral como personal.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis research focused on providing from Social Work an analysis of the elements that can beimplemented in a future public policy aimed at the informal carer of the elderly with Alzheimer’sin Colombia. To achieve this, the work started from a research seminar, a population was selected,object of study, consisting of 10 individuals who were recognized as informal caregivers ofAlzheimer’s patients in the city of Bucaramanga and information was collected through semistructured interviews. The results yielded 3 categories experience, willingness, and knowledge atthe time of caring for the patient. This allows us to conclude that the symptoms presented by thesepatients are diverse and generates a wear and tear on caregivers and an overload, it is important tohighlight that the mental health of caregivers is an indispensable aspect, as it directly affects the level of well-being both at work and at home.
