dc.description.abstractenglish | This project is part of the studies carried out by the GPH research group for the rainwater harvesting system of the E3T building at the UIS campus and focused on defining the technical conditions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of two laboratory-scale water treatment prototypes, a slow sand filter (SSF) and an ultrafiltration membrane (UFM). In addition, the efficiency of these technologies was analyzed based on the turbidity removal in synthetic raw water samples through flow tests, these samples were prepared for 3 different ranges of turbidity (0-10 NTU, 10-20 NTU and 20 -30 NTU). SSF showed higher removal percentages than the UFM when the influent turbidities were greater than 10 NTU, values between 44% - 76% and between 47% - 56% respectively, however, the results were lower than those reported in the literature for these types of technologies. Therefore, there were determined some instructions and recommendations to create an operation and maintenance manual for the correct use of the prototypes in future investigations.
