dc.description.abstractEste trabajo analiza los cambios en la dinámica geomorfológica del río Chicamocha en el tramo comprendido entre los municipios de Cepitá y Jordán (Santander), mediante un análisis multitemporal de coberturas del suelo entre los años 2000 y 2018, apoyado en imágenes satelitales Landsat y metodología CORINE Land Cover. A través de la interpretación de imágenes y la aplicación de índices espectrales como el NDVI, se identificaron transformaciones relevantes en las geoformas fluviales, asociadas tanto a procesos naturales de sedimentación y erosión, como a intervenciones antrópicas, entre ellas la expansión urbana y el cambio de coberturas vegetales hacia usos agropecuarios intensivos. Se evidenció una alteración del cauce en sectores con disminución de vegetación riparia y mayor actividad humana, lo cual sugiere una pérdida de estabilidad morfodinámica. Estos resultados resaltan la necesidad de integrar criterios geológicos y geomorfológicos en los procesos de ordenamiento territorial, con el fin de mitigar riesgos asociados a la degradación fluvial y mejorar la planificación del uso del suelo en zonas ambientalmente sensibles.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis thesis analyzes the geomorphological dynamics of the Chicamocha River along the section between the municipalities of Cepitá and Jordán (Santander, Colombia), through a multitemporal analysis of land cover changes from 2000 to 2018, using Landsat satellite imagery and the CORINE Land Cover methodology. Through spectral index analysis (e.g., NDVI) and supervised classification, significant transformations in fluvial landforms were identified, linked both to natural processes such as erosion and sedimentation, and to anthropogenic factors including urban expansion and conversion of natural vegetation to intensive agricultural land. River channel alterations were observed in areas with reduced riparian vegetation and increased human activity, indicating a loss of morphodynamic stability. The results highlight the importance of incorporating geological and geomorphological criteria into territorial planning processes to mitigate risks related to fluvial degradation and to improve land use management in environmentally sensitive areas
