dc.description.abstractLa “meseta” de Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana, ubicada en el departamento de Santander, Colombia, ha sido objeto de estudio durante más de 60 años, de controversia a nivel sedimentológico y paleoambiental, como también a nivel de desarrollo estructural por las fallas que limitan la cuenca, la cinemática de estas y su evolución tectónica. El levantamiento de la cordillera oriental permite el levantamiento de los bloques adyacentes a la cuenca, conocidas como la región de las mesas (Julivert, 1958) y el macizo de Santander, configurándose una depresión donde se depositarían los sedimentos que conforman hoy la formación Bucaramanga, esto debido a los sistemas fluviales que afectan que la afectan. Se realizan trabajos de campo para recolectar datos cinemáticos y determinar un modelo estructural para la región. Dando como resultado la identificación de dos nuevos sistemas de fallas, el sistema de fallas Rio de Oro y el sistema de fallas transversales a la “meseta” de Bucaramanga. De la misma manera la determinación de una componente de rumbo dextral para la falla Suarez y la determinación de la falla Chitota de cinemática sinestral normal. Así se llega a la conclusión de que la cuenca sobre la que está construida la ciudad de Bucaramanga es de tipo Pull-Apart.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe "Meseta" of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area, located in the department of Santander, Colombia, has been investigated for more than 60 years, of controversy at the sedimentological and paleoenvironmental level, as well as at the level of structural development due to the faults that limit the basin, the kinematics of these and their tectonic evolution. The uplift of the eastern cordillera allows the uplift region (Julivert, 1958) and the Santander massif, forming a depression where the sediments of the Bucaramanga formation will be deposited. This is due to the fluvial systems that affect it. Field work is done to collect kinematic data and determine a structural model for the region. Resulting in the identification of two new fault systems, the Rio de Oro fault system and the transverse to the "meseta" of Bucaramanga fault system. In the same way, the determination of a dextral component for the Suarez fault and the determination of the Chitota fault with normal sinestral kinematics. In this way, it is concluded that the basin on which the city of Bucaramanga is built is of the Pull Apart type.
