dc.description.abstractEsta tesis estudia el crecimiento urbano de Barrancabermeja, entre 1926 y 1936, que se generó tras la llegada de la Tropical Oil Company. Por tanto, el trabajo está enmarcado en la relación industrialización y urbanización. El primer capítulo recoge los fundamentos teóricos del trabajo y analiza la composición demográfica en el municipio. En el segundo se estudia la relación que existió entre fiLa Trocofl y la administración local en el proceso. El tercer, cuarto y quinto capítulo, describen y analizan el mercado inmobiliario en los tres principales sectores de la ciudad: el barrio Colombia, el barrio Buenos Aires y lo que se denominó como la zona centro, respectivamente. En el sexto capítulo se hace un estudio comparativo a partir de los resultados de los tres capítulos anteriores, para lograr una comprensión global del proceso. Se argumenta que el proceso de crecimiento urbano del municipio fue producto de la irrupción de la Tropical Oil Company que suscitó una urbanización acelerada en la que la especulación sobre el valor de la tierra fue fundamental y característica del mercado inmobiliario municipal. Varios agentes buscaron obtener ganancias a través de la comercialización de inmuebles, se destacan entre ellos dos sociedades comerciales que ejecutaron dos grandes proyectos de urbanización.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis thesis studies the urban growth of Barrancabermeja, between 1926 and 1936, that was generated after the arrival of the Tropical Oil Company. Therefore, the work is framed in the relation between industrialization and urbanization. The first chapter provides the theoretical foundations of the work and analyzes the demographic composition in the municipality. In the second one there is a study of the relation that existed between "La Troco" and the local government in the process. The third, fourth and fifth chapter describes and analyzes the housing market in the three main sectors of the city: el barrio Colombia, el barrio Buenos Aires and what became known as zona centro, respectively. In the sixth chapter there is a comparative study of the results from the three previous chapters, to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the overall process. It is argued that the process of urban growth of the municipality was due to the outbreak of the Tropical Oil Company that elicited rapid urbanization in which speculation on the value of land was fundamental and a characteristic of the local
