dc.description.abstractenglish | The demands of the world we are living and the constant changes in our surroundings bring with them a necessity to design and to implement new teaching models focused on students and the development of skills that allow them to face real life challenges, leaving behind the ideas that the teacher is the center of attention and that a class is a way to accumulate knowledge. This paper analyzes how the use of active-learning activities and the constant participation of students in classes can increase their motivation to learn and keep their interest in the contents of a course throughout a semester. Moreover, these activities are complemented with the use of ICT (information and communication technology). In order to obtain results, a learning - teaching strategy was structured and implemented for the course Diseño VI Por Componentes offered by UIS School of Industrial Design. Furthermore, the use of materials and tools specifically designed for this course is assessed using a motivation of materials survey (IMMS). This survey reveals the level of motivation students have regarding the materials of instruction used by a teacher. The results showed positive data indicating that students demonstrate greater interest and motivation for the course when they perceive a well-defined organization of contents and when they acknowledge they can use such contents in their professional lives. Besides, this organization bolsters attention levels and generates a feeling of trust in the contents of the course and how useful they can be.
