dc.description.abstract | El agua es uno de los compuestos más importantes para el hombre, debido a sus amplias aplicaciones, entre ellas las relacionadas con el consumo humano, actividades domésticas, actividades agrícolas, usos recreacionales, entre otras. Pero la utilización inadecuada de las fuentes hídricas ha producido su alta contaminación, con las consecuencias lógicas en la salubridad del ser humano y otros organismos vivos. Es por ello que las evaluaciones del estado de calidad de las aguas se hacen necesarias y de suma importancia. En ese sentido, el presente trabajo de grado realiza una evaluación del estado de contaminación de la parte alta del río Fonce, de Santander. Para el mismo, se ha elegido una amplia variedad de parámetros fisicoquímicos establecidos por norma en el decreto 1594/84 (valores máximos permisibles) para contacto primario y secundario y de índices de contaminación (ICO), que relacionan todas las variables fisicoquímicas antes mencionadas. Ellos son: los índices de contaminación por materia orgánica (ICOMO), índice de contaminación por mineralización (ICOMI), índice de contaminación por sólidos suspendidos (ICOSUS), índice de contaminación por pH (ICOpH) , e índice de contaminación trófico (ICOTRO). dc.description.abstractenglish | Water is one of the most important compounds for humans, due to the fact that it has lots of implementations, such as those related to human consumption, domestic and agricultural activities, recreational use, and so forth. But the inappropriate use of the water sources has caused their high contamination, with the logical consequences for health in human beings and living organisms. For that reason, an assessment of the water quality is necessary and of the utmost importance. In that way, this research work develops an assessment of the pollution state of the waters at the upper part of Fonce river, in the department of Santander (Colombia). For that work, a wide variety of physical-chemical parameters are been chosen, following the regulation laid down by the government decree 1594/84 (maximum measures permitted) for primary and secondary contact, and for pollution rating (ICO), that relate all the physical-chemical variables mentioned above. Those are: Pollution rating by Organic Matters (ICOMO), Pollution rating by Mineralization (ICOMI), Pollution rating by Hung Solids (ICOSUS), Pollution rating by pH (ICOpH), and Trophic Pollution rating (ICOTRO). By means of those ones, different water qualities are rated, and that permits to characterize what sort of environmental problem exists (without resorting to observe each one of the physical-chemical variables assessed); and therefore, some possible solutions are formulated for preventing the pollution of that water current. The results obtained under the implementation of the ICO's show a very high pollution rating with organic matters, in accordance with the measures obtained in the oxygen biochemical demand (DBO) and total coliforms. All that as a consequence of the organic unloading produced, on the whole, by the municipalities located on the upper river sides. That situation shows the necessity of the setting up of a residual water treatment plant in each town. | |
