Cervical cancer is considered a public health problem in the world. This disease progresses gradually, and in early stages is possible to reverse it. However, symptoms only occur at very high degree of lesion. In developed countries the incidence and mortality rates have been reduced through campaigns that promote regular cervical cytology. Unfortunately, in developing countries, this technique has not have the expected impact. The lack of coverage and poor quality of taking and reading the samples are the main reasons. In response to this problem CIMBIOS, our investigation group, has developed a set of research towards implementing an early detection technique for cervical cancer, based on electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Furthermore, with high sensitivity and specificity, low cost and real-time results. According to above, the present investigation was propose in order to study the electrical properties of endocervix by electrical impedance spectra measured on the exocervix. In this way, the electrical impedance spectrum of ex vivo fresh pieces of uteri taken from hysterectomy, were measured by altering the electrical properties of the endocervix using conductive bars. Data were analyzed according to Cole-Cole model with multiple dispersions and additionally, a physical-mathematical model of electrical properties of tissue. Based on the generalized effective medium theory of induced polarization (GEMTIP), this model shows a clear relationship between electrical and biochemical properties of the tissue. The results suggest that electrical properties in neoplastic tissue are associated to carcinogenic field effect
