dc.description.abstractEsta investigación describe y analiza el proceso de profesionalización de la enfermería en Santander, en el período 19701982. Este proceso se abordó a la luz de las teorías feministas y de género, dada la importante participación de las mujeres a lo largo de la historia del cuidado, y, de la institucionalización de su disciplina. En Santander, el proceso de profesionalización se llevó a cabo gracias a su institucionalización en la Universidad Industrial de Santander, por lo que su protagonismo fue un elemento clave a la hora de realizar la investigación. Se consideraron otros elementos, como los contextos regionales, sobre la salud, la educación y el papel que tuvieron en la inserción de la universidad. Por otro lado, cabe señalar que la investigación narra la historia de la enfermería desde una etapa primitiva a una etapa más moderna, con el fin de comprender de manera amplia la evolución de la enfermera que realizaba un oficio, a aquella que logró convertirse en profesional. Finalmente, se consideró importante mencionar la participación y lucha de las mujeres enfermeras que vieron nacer esta carrera en Santander. Luchas que se describieron con un fuerte impacto político y organizativo, ya que, hasta el día de hoy, continúan reclamando sus derechos sociales, laborales y de reconocimiento académico.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis research describes and analyzes the nursing professionalization process in Santander, in the period 19701982. This process was approached in the light of feminist and gender theories, given the important participation of women throughout the history of care, and the institutionalization of their discipline. In Santander, the professionalization process was carried out thanks to its institutionalization at the Industrial University of Santander, so its leading role was a key element when conducting the research. Other elements were considered, such as regional contexts, health, education, and the role they had in the insertion of the university. On the other hand, it should be noted that the research tells the history of nursing from a primitive stage to a more modern stage, to understand in a broad way, the evolution of the nurse who performed a trade, to one who managed to become a professional. Finally, it was considered important to mention the participation and struggle of the women nurses who saw the birth of this career in Santander. Struggles that were described with a strong political and organizational impact, since, to this day, they continue to demand their social, labor, and academic recognition rights.
