dc.description.abstractLa Formación Tiburón aflora mediante una franja con sentido NNE-SSW en el Norte de Bucaramanga específicamente en los alrededores de la vereda Angelinos. En esta localidad se levantaron cuatro columnas estratigráficas representadas a escala 1:100, las cuales forman parte de la columna compuesta de la Formación Tiburón. La base de la unidad se levantó en la cantera de cementos CEMEX, la parte media en la quebrada Ceylán, la parte superior sobre la orilla norte del río Suratá y el tope en la planta de tratamiento de agua potable vereda Angelinos AMB; con base en el análisis sedimentológico, descripción estratigráfica, descripción macroscópicamicroscópicas de las muestras y datos obtenido en la columna, se estableció que la Formación Tiburón está compuesta por sedimentos de facies mixtas dentro de las que se encuentran micritas arenosas, facies calcáreas correspondientes a micritas, y facies terrígenas a las que pertenecen los conglomerados calcáreos, areniscas y lodolitas. La Formación Tiburón está constituida por depósitos de caída de roca en una plataforma siliclástica y con aporte de material fluvial (escorrentías), los primeros depósitos mencionados anteriormente fueron causados por el levantamiento y control tectónico de la plataforma a mediados del Triásico; hipótesis que no había sido considera para la Formación Tiburón. Los conglomerados depositados por caída de roca se derivan de la erosión de calizas del miembro superior de la Formación Diamante; situación por la cual estas dos unidades se encuentran en contacto discordante angular en la cantera de cementos CEMEX; en donde además , y en general en toda la zona de estudio, se evidencia el alto diaclasamiento y fallamiento de la Formación Tiburón; estas afectaciones estructurales son generadas debido a la tectónica transpresiva de la zona, cuya principal estructura corresponde a la falla Bucaramanga y su asociación de fallas inversas transversales con componentes de rumbo.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe Tiburón Formation is outcropping at the north of Bucaramanga in a strip with orientation NNE-SSW, located in the surroundings of the lane Angelinos. In this location,we develop four stratigraphic columns at representative scale 1:100, wich are part of the column composed of the Tiburón formation. The base of the unit was is in the CEMEX cement quarry, the middle part in the Ceylán ravine, the upper part in the north bank of the Suratá river and the top in the AMB water treatment plant -Angelinos; based on the sedimentological analysis, stratigraphic description, and macroscopic-microscopic description of the samples and data obtained in the stratigraphic columns, it was established that the Tiburón formation is constituted by mixed facies within which there are sandy micrites, calcareous facies in which micrites and terrigenous facies like calcareous conglomerates, sandstones and mudstones. The Tiburón Formation is constituted by deposits of falling rock in a siliclastic platform and contribution of fluvial material, which are in turn interspersed with flood deposits, these processes were caused by tectonic lifting and control of the platform in the middle Triassic, hypothesis that had not been considered for the Tiburón Formation. The conglomerates deposited by falling rock are derived from the erosion of limestones of the upper member of the Diamante Formation; situation whereby these two units are in angular discordant contact in the CEMEX´S quarry; where in addition, and in general throughout the study area, the high jointing and faulting of the Tiburón Formation is evident due to the transpressive tectonics of the zone, whose main structure corresponds to the Bucaramanga fault and its association of transversal thrust faults with strike -slip.
