dc.description.abstractEl objetivo general del presente trabajo se centra en la discusión de la tesis del filósofo alemán Walter Kaufmann, que se halla en su obra llamada Tragedia y filosofía, en el capitulo nueve (9) titulado “Shakespeare y los filósofos”. Allí el autor afirma categóricamente que la teoría aristotélica de la tragedia es más compatible con las tragedias shakesperianas que con las tragedias griegas. Tal afirmación nos sirvió de base para la presente investigación, en la que se pretende establecer si es posible leer a Otelo de Shakespeare a partir de la teoría aristotélica de la tragedia con el fin de constatar y confrontar hasta qué punto es verídico que dicha teoría es compatible con la mencionada tragedia moderna. El desarrollo de este trabajo de grado se lleva a cabo en tres momentos: En primer lugar, realizamos una breve exposición de la tesis del filósofo alemán Walter Kaufmann con el objetivo de señalar en qué consiste tal afirmación. En segundo lugar, llevamos a cabo una descripción de los elementos constitutivos de la teoría aristotélica de la tragedia descrita por el estagirita en Poética. Y por último, en el tercer capítulo, nos centramos en confrontar la pieza trágica Otelo con la teoría aristotélica en torno a la tragedia, llegando así a la siguiente conclusión: Que sí es posible leer la obra shakesperiana a partir de dicha teoría. Sin embargo, es preciso matizar la tesis de Kaufmann, porque a la hora de su contrastación con la pieza trágica de Shakespeare resultan tres inconsistencias que impiden aplicar al pie de la letra la tesis del autor, según la cual el planteamiento de Aristóteles se aplica “mejor” a las tragedias shakesperianas que a las griegas.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe overall objective of this work was focused on the discussion of the thesis made by the German philosopher Walter Kaufmann, which is found in his work called Tragedy and Philosophy in the ninth chapter entitled “Shakespeare and philosophers”. There, the author categorically states that the Aristotelian theory of tragedy is more compatible with Shakespearean tragedies than with Greek tragedies. That assertion served as basis for this research, which seeks to establish whether it is possible to read the play Otelo Shakespeare’s tragic piece from the Aristotelian theory of tragedy. This, in order to find and compare to what extent it is true that this theory is compatible with the modern tragedy. The thesis development takes places in three stages: first, a brief statement of the German philosopher Walter Kaufman’s thesis, in order to point out three mistakes that arise from it. Second, a short description of the constituent elements of the Aristotelian theory of tragedy described by Aristotle in Poetics. Finally, in the third chapter, the Otelo’s tragic piece was confronted with Aristotle’s theory around tragedy, reaching the following conclusion: what yes is it possible to read Otelo by Shakespeare from Aristotelian theory of tragedy, it is necessary to qualify Kaufmann’s thesis, because when contrasting with Shakespeare’s work, some elements of this thesis result incompatible with Otelo, which belies the German philosopher’s thesis.
