dc.description.abstractLas estructuras objeto de esta evaluación son las torres enfriadoras de agua, las cuales hacen parte de una serie de equipos que proveen servicios industriales a las diferentes plantas de proceso de la refinería de Barrancabermeja. Las torres de enfriamiento son equipos que se usan para enfriar agua en grandes volúmenes, extrayendo el calor del agua mediante evaporación o conducción. El pre-concepto y diagnóstico dado obedece al criterio técnico basado en el levantamiento realizado de las estructuras, a lo investigado en la bibliografía de referencia y lo aprendido en el curso de patología dictado como una asignatura en la especialización. El presente trabajo permite concluir que los espesores de recubrimiento mayores a 4.0 cm han protegido las estructuras del deterioro, evitando que la carbonatación avance de manera significativa. Así mismo, no se evidencian lesiones importantes debidas al fenómeno de la corrosión; sin embargo, se constata que la capa más expuesta de la superficie del concreto es fácilmente removible, concluyéndose que el concreto está siendo vulnerable a un ataque ácido. Finalmente, los criterios aquí expuestos pretenden generar conciencia de la necesidad de realizar un estudio mucho más profundo, que permita generar una propuesta de rehabilitación completa y fundamentada, para que las edificaciones puedan seguir operando de forma segura por mucho más tiempo.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe structures object of this evaluation are the water cooling towers, which are part of a series of equipment that provide industrial services to the different process plants of the Barrancabermeja refinery. Cooling towers are equipment that is used to cool water in large volumes, extracting heat from water by evaporation or conduction. The pre-concept and diagnosis given is due to the technical criteria based on the survey carried out of the structures, to what was investigated in the reference bibliography and what was learned in the pathology course dictated as a subject in the specialization. The present work allows us to conclude that the coating thicknesses greater than 4.0 cm have protected the structures from deterioration, preventing carbonation from progressing significantly. Likewise, no significant injuries due to the phenomenon of corrosion are evident; however, it is found that the most exposed layer of the concrete surface is easily removable, concluding that the concrete is being vulnerable to an acid attack. Finally, the criteria set forth here are intended to raise awareness of the need for a much deeper study, which allows generating a comprehensive and well-founded rehabilitation proposal, so that buildings can continue to operate safely for much longer.
