dc.description.abstractEste trabajo tiene como objetivo consolidar y publicar datos sobre la vegetación del norte de la Serranía de Los Yariguíes en el Sistema de Información sobre Biodiversidad de Colombia (SiB Colombia). La información, recopilada a partir de tres proyectos de investigación con metodologías diversas, fue unificada mediante procesos de limpieza, estandarización y validación bajo el estándar Darwin Core. En total, se analizaron datos de 5674 individuos distribuidos en 140 parcelas con 309 especies identificadas, de las cuales el 46,6% no estaban registradas previamente para la Serranía de Los Yariguíes en el GBIF. Entre los proyectos, TRANSE destacó por registrar el mayor número de individuos muestreados y alcanzar el nivel más alto de resolución taxonómica. Los análisis de diversidad y composición florística realizados permitieron además identificar limitaciones metodológicas, evaluar patrones de diversidad y composición, y comparar la información generada por cada proyecto. Se identificaron a Fagaceae y Myrtaceae como las familias con mayor importancia ecológica, mientras que Calycolpus moritzianus fue la especie con el mayor número de individuos registrados. Se publicó la primera de tres bases de datos en el SiB Colombia, mientras que las otras se encuentran en proceso de publicación. Este trabajo representa un aporte significativo a la ciencia abierta, al facilitar el acceso a datos estandarizados que promueven investigaciones futuras en una región poco representada y de alta biodiversidad. Finalmente, se destaca la necesidad de unificar protocolos de muestreo, establecer estándares taxonómicos consistentes y ampliar los esfuerzos de investigación en áreas poco exploradas, contribuyendo así al manejo sostenible y al conocimiento de la vegetación de la región.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis study aims to consolidate and publish data on the vegetation of the northern Serranía de Los Yariguíes through the Colombian Biodiversity Information System (SiB Colombia). Information from three research projects, each employing different methodologies, was integrated using cleaning, standardization, and validation processes in accordance with the Darwin Core standard. A total of 5,674 individuals across 140 plots and representing 309 species were analyzed, with 46.6% of the species previously unrecorded in GBIF for Serranía de Los Yariguíes. Among the projects, TRANSE excelled by recording the highest number of sampled individuals and achieving the greatest taxonomic resolution. Analyses of floristic diversity and composition helped identify methodological gaps, evaluate diversity patterns, and compare outputs from each project. Fagaceae and Myrtaceae emerged as the most ecologically significant families, while Calycolpus moritzianus was the species with the highest number of recorded individuals. The first of the databases has been published in SiB Colombia as part of this initiative, and the other two are in the publication process. This study is a valuable contribution to open science, providing standardized data that supports future research in an underrepresented and highly biodiverse region. Additionally, it underscores the importance of unifying sampling protocols, establishing consistent taxonomic standards, and increasing research efforts in poorly studied areas, thereby advancing the sustainable management and understanding of the region’s vegetation.
