dc.description.abstractEl proceso de atención de enfermería (PAE) constituye para la enfermera de cuidados intensivos (UCI) un mecanismo útil que evalúa la calidad del cuidado y mejora los planes de cuidados resultantes; permite establecer las metas para el cliente, cuanto y cómo pueden cumplirse y cómo ha sido la evolución y evaluación de las intervenciones. Es importante reconocer la relación existente entre la enfermera en la UCI y el PAE e identificar la importancia de la aplicación de éste proceso en sus intervenciones. El PAE es un conjunto de acciones que conducen a una meta y resuelve problemas; unifica un lenguaje; organiza el conocimiento; propone un método de cuidado; indica qué, cuando, como y porqué se hace algo. Lynda Hall utilizó por primera vez éste término, el cual ha evolucionado hasta que se da lugar a las etapas de valoración, diagnostico, planeación, ejecución y evaluación; siendo la actual estructura del ejercicio de enfermería. El PAE no es utilizado a pesar de su importancia; debido a que la enfermera no se identifica con el proceso y con el rol que tiene en las UCIs; no hay equilibrio en la relación enfermera paciente; la enfermera realiza múltiples actividades siendo el tiempo un enemigo; no existe una remuneración adecuada y una capacitación contínua. Esto influye para que no se le de la importancia que merece en el quehacer diario de enfermería. Hay dificultades en su aplicación durante todas sus etapas, haciéndose necesario implementar una estrategia que permita el acople de todas sus fases, constituyéndose en una herramienta de atención al cliente crítico; se deben revisar las etapas y la forma de implementarlas adecuadamente; se debe evaluar constantemente el manejo del proceso y su evolución. Se deben reconocer las repercusiones que tiene para la profesión, el paciente y la propia enfermera.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe nursing care process (NCP) is a useful mechanism for intensive car unit (ICU)nursing to evaluate the quality of the care and improve the resulting care plans; itallows the nurse to establish goals for the client, how and when they can be fulfilledand what the evolution and the evaluation of the interventions has been like. It isimportant to acknowledge the relation between the nurse in the ICU and the NCP andidentify the importance of the application of this process it the interventions. The NCP is a set of actions that lead to a goal and solve problems; it unifies alanguage; it organizes knowledge; it proposes a method or care; it indicates what,when, how and why something is done. Lynda Hall used this term for the first time,and it has evolved to the point of the stages of assessment, diagnosis, planning,execution and evaluation; as it is the current structure of the nursing practice. The NCP is not being used despite is importance; due to the fact that nurses do notidentify with the process and their role in the ICUs; there is no balance in thenurse-patient relation; nurses carry out multiple activities where time is their enemy;there is no adequate remuneration or continous training. This has a bearing on it notgettint the importance it deserves in the everyday practice of nursing. There aredifficulties in its application on all the stages, making it necessary to implement astrategy to connect all its phases, making it a critical customer attention tool; thestages and the way to implement them properly must be revised; the management ofthe process and its evolution must be evaluated constantly. Its repercussions ot theprofession, on the patient and on nurses themselves must be acknowledged. " Graduation
