dc.description.abstractSe ha identificado el gen PTEN y el gen HER2/Neu como mutaciones importantes en los carcinomas endometrioides y serosos de endometrio respectivamente. En el presente estudio se investigó la expresión por medio de inmunohistoquímica de la porción funcional del PTEN y del HER2/Neu en endometrios normales en diferentes fases del ciclo menstrual para determinar los patrones normales de los mismos. Se obtuvieron 28 muestras de endometrios, 13 de las cuales eran proliferativos, 13 en la fase secretora y 2 en la fase menstrual y se realizó la técnica de inmunohistoquímica observando que no hubo expresión inmunofenotípica de HER2/Neu en ninguno de los endometrios normales y la mayor proporción de expresión inmunofenotípica de la fracción funcional del PTEN ocurrió en los endometrios secretores y menstruales. Esto se traduce en una expresión epitelial del 16.7% (n = 13) de los endometrios en fase proliferativa, en el 66.6% de los epitelios en la fase secretora (n = 13) y en el 100% de los epitelios en la fase menstrual (n = 2) Hubo dos muestras, una en fase proliferativa y otra en fase secretora (8.3% respectivamente), con expresión en el estroma endometrial, sin expresión concomitante en el epitelio. Estos hallazgos son sugestivos de que la expresión del HER2/Neu en endometrios normales es patológica y debe indicar la búsqueda de un carcinoma seroso intraepitelial de endometrio
dc.description.abstractenglishThe genes PTEN and HER2/Neu had been identified as important mutations in the endometrioid and serous types of carcinomas of the endometrium, respectively. In the present study, a research was conducted through immunohistochemistry for the expression of the functional portion of PTEN and HER2/Neu in normal endometria during different menstrual cycles in order to determine their normal expression patterns. 28 endometrial samples were retrieved, 13 of those were proliferative, 13 were secretory and 2 were menstrual and the immunohistochemistry technique was performed, in which it was observed that there was no immunophenotypical expression of HER2/Neu in none the normal endometria and that the vast proportion of immunophenotypical expression of the functional fraction of PTEN occurred in the secretory and menstrual endometrium. This means an epithelial expression of 16.7% (n = 13) of the endometriums in the proliferative phase, in the 66.6% of the epithelium of the secretory phase (n = 13) and in 100% of the epithelium of the menstrual phase. There were two samples, one in the proliferative phase and another in the secretory phase (8.3% respectively), with expression in the endometrial stromal without concurrent expression in the epithelium. These findings suggest that the expression of HER2/Neu in normal endometria is pathological and must dictate a search for an intraepitelial serous carcinoma and that the PTEN expression is inhibited during the proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle to allow the endometrium to proliferate. 1
