dc.description.abstractPlanteamiento del problema: Las gestaciones gemelares monocoriales biamnioticas presentan mayor morbimortalidad que los otros tipos de gestaciones gemelares, estás complicaciones están relacionadas directamente con la estructura de la placenta monocorial que las lleva a presentar complicaciones como síndrome de trasfusión gemelo- gemelo(15%), restricción de crecimiento intrauterino selectivo (10%) y secuencia de perfusión arterial reversa(1:3500). Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre las características de las placentas, en los embarazos gemelares monocoriales biamnioticos, y la presencia de efectos adversos neonatales. Resumen: Evaluando los resultados arrojados durante el análisis del presente estudio nos encontramos inicialmente con que en un 39% de las gestaciones evaluadas se encontraron complicaciones, un porcentaje elevado comparado con otros estudios , de estas complicaciones la que predominó fue la Restricción del crecimiento intrauterino(26.92%), con un valor más alto de lo registrado (aproximadamente el 10% de los gemelos monocorionicos1) pero que concuerda con hallazgos de otros investigadores, entre los que se expone que la presencia de restricción del crecimiento intrauterino tiene mayor prevalencia en gestaciones monocoriales con respecto a los embarazos bicoriales. En cuanto a las características de las placentas, se encontró en un principio el predominio de las inserciones centrales y marginales del cordón y aunque en el gemelo 2 no se encuentra una relación entre el tipo de inserción del cordón y el peso del gemelo, en los gemelos 1 se encontró que la inserción velamentosa se relaciona con gemelos de mayor peso; Con respecto a los hallazgos relacionados con el tipo de inserción del cordón y las complicaciones del embarazo, para el gemelo 1 el tipo de inserción que se encontraba más relacionada con complicaciones fue la velamentosa mientras que para el gemelo 2 fue la inserción marginal y una de las complicaciones evaluadas fue la presencia de RCIU.
