dc.description.abstractEl propósito de esta investigación es analizar el fenómeno de la sobrepoblación a partir del pensamiento ético y político de Aristóteles. En tal sentido, se considera que la sobrepoblación no es una problemática cuyo estudio compete exclusivamente a la demografía, pues si bien esta última proporciona información estadística relevante que permite establecer de cierta manera, una connotación negativa de la sobrepoblación desde una visión Aristotélica, por ejemplo, al tener en cuenta las cifras para mostrar lo desproporcional del fenómeno, el análisis que lleva a cabo la demografía sobre esta problemática se convierte en superficial frente al que puede realizar la filosofía, en tanto que a diferencia de la primera, la segunda sobrepasa lo estadístico (lo práctico) y da sentido o razón de ser al estudio del fenómeno cuando se reflexiona sobre los efectos de la sobrepoblación en aspectos como la felicidad, el bien, la belleza, la moderación, entre otros. Tales aspectos son característicos del pensamiento de Aristóteles y, en consecuencia, esta investigación centra su atención en el análisis de una problemática que los antiguos griegos de alguna u otra forma advirtieron y que, posteriormente, el filósofo macedonio tendrá sutilmente en cuenta al describir la polis ideal en su obra Política y al enfatizar en Ética a Nicómaco sobre la importancia de una justa medida frente a los diferentes asuntos de la vida que contribuyen a un buen vivir y a la felicidad.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe purpose of this research is to analyze the phenomenon of overpopulation based on Aristotle's ethical and political thought. In this sense, it is considered that overpopulation is not a problem whose study is exclusively the responsibility of demography, because although the latter provides relevant statistical information that allows establishing, in a certain way, a negative connotation of overpopulation from an Aristotelian vision, for example, by taking into account the figures to show the disproportionality of the phenomenon, the analysis carried out by demography on this problem becomes superficial compared to the one that can be carried out by philosophy, while unlike the former, the latter goes beyond the statistical (the practical) and gives meaning or raison d'être to the study of the phenomenon when reflecting on the effects of overpopulation on aspects such as happiness, goodness, beauty, moderation, among others. Such aspects are characteristic of Aristotle's thought and, consequently, this research focuses its attention on the analysis of a problem that the ancient Greeks in one way or another noticed and that, later, the Macedonian philosopher will subtly take into account when describing the ideal polis in his work Politics and when emphasizing in Nicomachean Ethics on the importance of a fair measure in the different matters of life that contribute to a good life and happiness.
