dc.description.abstractLa presente investigación busca indagar cómo el empleo de maestras e institutoras se implementó en el periodo de la Regeneración en Santander, siendo un oficio que era compartido por hombres y mujeres, pero que en ciertos niveles de enseñanza, como la Escuela Primaria, llegó a considerarse particularmente femenino, para así ahondar en la profesionalización del trabajo femenino honorable, en contraposición con las labores que realizaban las mujeres en otros contextos y que de cierta manera se concebían como acciones propias de las clases menos favorecidas. Se intenta demostrar cómo el ejercicio del magisterio por parte de ciertas mujeres les permitió acceder a un salario equiparable y en ocasiones superior al de sus pares masculinos, y además les conllevó a acceder a espacios de cierta relevancia pública, en celebraciones, fiestas y rituales públicos donde las maestras y directoras de escuela podían presentar discursos, la mayoría de ellos de tipo moral y patriótico. También se toma la visión de la educación femenina y masculina a través de los escritos de las literatas de la época, con lo cual se aborda un escenario social menos riguroso que el plasmado en los diarios oficiales, pero no por ello menos rico en imágenes y representaciones del deber ser de las mujeres y hombres de una época donde se retomó la moral y la religión como centro del discurso político.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis study intends to investigate how the master and School Teachers job was implemented in the period of Regeneration in Santander, with a work that was shared by men and women, but that at certain levels of education, as Elementary School, came to be seen particularly women, in order to deepen the professionalization of women's work honorable, as opposed to the work done by women in other contexts and that in some way be conceived as treasury shares of the lower classes. It focuses on how the exercise of the teaching by some women were allowed access to a salary comparable and sometimes higher than their male counterparts, and also led them to access public spaces of some significance in celebrations, festivals and public rituals where teachers and school principals could presenting speeches, most of them of moral and patriotic. It also takes the view of female and male education through the writings of the literate at the time, thus addressing a social setting less stringent than reflected in official journals, but no less rich in images and representations of the will be of women and men of an age where was take over the morality and religion as the center of political discourse.
