dc.description.abstractEl presente trabajo tiene como objetivo dilucidar el concepto materia, según la substancia compuesta tomista. Las principales obras que se estudiarán para el desarrollo del objetivo anterior serán, primero, los opúsculos El ente y la esencia (De ente et essentia), Sobre la naturaleza de la materia y sus dimensiones indeterminadas (De natura materiæ et dimensionibus interminatis), Sobre el principio de individuación (De principio individuationis); y segundo, el Tratado del hombre del tomo I de la Suma teológica. No obstante, se recurrirá, según sea necesario, a otras obras del Corpus thomisticum que permitan lograr el objetivo de esta monografía. Para el perfecto desarrollo del objetivo que antecede, primero, hay que determinar la significación de materia fuera del compuesto, concepto que para Tomás adquiere un sentido tanto físico como metafísico. Segundo, se expondrá el contexto conceptual metafísico tomista que permita comprender la noción de substancia compuesta: concepto clave para elucidar la significación de materia. Tercero, hay que exponer la significación de substancia compuesta, tarea que implica establecer la significación de su constituyente formal y material dentro de la unidad substancial. Se concluye que en la filosofía tomista el concepto materia primero, adquiere una significación sensible y suprasensible; segundo, que en el compuesto, la significación de materia difiere según el constitutivo formal, ya que en el compuesto de materia y alma intelectiva, la materia denota un sentido escatológico, aspecto significativo, ya que esto último es lo que diferencia la propuesta filosófica tomista de la aristotélica con respecto a la significación de materia como constitutivo de la substancia compuesta.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe aim of this work is to elucidate the concept of matter, according to the Thomistic composite substance. The main works that will be studied for the development of the previous objective will be, first, the booklets On Being and Essence (De ente et essentia), On nature of the matter and its undetermined dimensions (De natura materiæ et dimensionibus interminatis), On Principle of Individuation (De principio individuationis); and second, the Treatise of the Man from volume I of the Summa theologica. However, other works of Corpus thomisticum will be used, as necessary, to achieve the objective of this monograph. For the perfect development of the aforementioned objective, first, it is necessary to determine the significance of matter outside the composite, a concept that for Thomas acquires both physical and metaphysical sense. Second, the Thomistic metaphysical conceptual context that allows us to understand the notion of composite substance will be exposed: a key concept to elucidate the significance of matter. Third, we must expose the significance of composite substance, a task that implies establishing the significance of its formal constituent and material within the substantial unit. It is concluded that in the Thomistic philosophy the first matter concept acquires a sensible and suprasensible significance; second, that in the composite, the significance of matter differs according to the formal constitutive, since in the composite of matter and intellectual soul, matter denotes an eschatological sense, significant aspect, since the latter is what differentiates the Thomistic philosophical proposal of the Aristotelian regarding the significance of matter as constitutive of the composite substance.
